Precision laser cutting was involved in building 3 of the current Tall Tree and The Eye series of sculptures from the famous English modern artist Anish Kapoor. 

Tall tree and the eye is made up of 73 1 meter round 316 Stainless steel spheres which have a high tensile engineered frame on the inside of the spheres running much like a hidden tree inside the sculpture. This was no small feat as the frame had to pass through holes in each ball to the next at the exact kiss point of the balls giving the visual effect that the balls are all resting on each other hanging weightlessly in the air. Our special projects team alongside some of New Zealand’s best engineers spent the best part of a year for each sculpture creating these masterpieces.
